Submission

The submission deadline has passed.  For additional information, please contact IBIT@temple.edu.

The workshop is intended to provide an opportunity for scholars broadly interested in issues surrounding value-added integration to come together to discuss and gain helpful critique of their research papers or works-in-progress in an informal setting.

Call for Proposals

The use of information technology (IT) in business to leverage opportunities and to transform business has increased in importance over the past several years as firms strive for competitive advantage in a diverse and changing marketplace. Many observers understand and can explain in great depth the simple e-business models of book selling or traditional IT airline ticket reservations or payroll processing. However, what we have already learned about the success and failure of IT suggests that “second generation” business operation, marketing, personnel, and strategic initiatives, represented by diverse applications such as product development communities, online auctions, Internet-based business-to-business exchanges, relationship management, business intelligence, and smart sourcing. Indeed, long term economic value of IT may lie less in the single-purpose “dot-com” or payroll application and more in the traditional line business that can create value by leveraging core strengths.

Invitation

You are invited to submit a single page synopsis on your research in this area. Ideally, the paper will be a summary of research that you intend to start in the near term or are currently engaged with.

Goals

It is expected that the workshop will:

  • Provide feedback from other scholars on your work.
  • Provide a forum for researchers to explore collaboration opportunities.

About the Workshop

The workshop will provide an opportunity for you to review and explore and critically assess the merit of your thinking and the thinking of others. The workshop is limited to a maximum of 20 participants. Each participant will have a chance to present his or her ideas in an informal but critical setting.

Publication and Funding

The resulting workshop presentations will be published as part of the official working papers series of the Institute for Business and Information Technology (IBIT). IBIT has created a new Research Associates program that provides a minimum $1000 spending account to selected projects. Workshop participants will be fast tracked to submit research proposals for competitive funding through the institute.
